Bonnie Wood

Mrs. Bonnie Virginia Hayes Wood, age 91, of Elkin passed away Monday, January 27, 2020 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Wood was born November 24, 1928 in Wilkes County to Thomas Jesse and Docia Scott Hayes.

Mrs. Wood was a member of First Baptist Church of Elkin and retired from Chatham Manufacturing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lana Wood Brendle; one sister; and seven brothers.

Survivors include: her husband of 73 years, Henry F. Wood of the home; sons, Kermit Wood and wife Mary of Elkin, Terry Wood and wife Becky of Jonesville; grandchildren, Jayme Brendle Holt and husband Jeff, Neil Brendle and wife Carrie, Steven Wood, Pam Wood Hutchens and husband Shawn, Brian Wood; and nine great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, January 30, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Knobbs Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Wood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00pm Wednesday evening at Elkin Funeral Service.
