Mr. Boyd Franklin Simmons, age 87, of Traphill, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2024 at Surry Health Center in Mt. Airy.
Frank was born March 25, 1937, in Wilkes County to Boyd Nathan and Nina Beatrice Brown Simmons.
Frank was a member of Middle Cross Baptist Church. He was a retired truck driver, brick mason, and business owner; a true jack of all trades. He loved to farm and always enjoyed telling a good story.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Frankie H. Simmons, two daughters, Tammy Handy and Debbie Ring, and a brother, Henry Simmons.
Survivors include: daughter Tina Hanley and husband Ken of Anchorage, Alaska; son-in-law Lonnie Carl Handy of Roaring River; brother Tommy Simmons and his wife Pat of Traphill; grandchildren Amy Williams and husband James, Matt Handy and wife Angel, Tim Handy, and wife Tara, Anthony Burchette and wife Christina, Peyton Hanley; great-grandchildren, Keegan, Owen, Makina, Hayden, Madalyne, Emma, Maycee, Payton, Layla, Taylor, Trey, Trystan, Malachi.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Middle Cross Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Whitley and Rev. Joe Sturgill officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 – 12:00 p.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Middle Cross Baptist Church Construction Fund, 2305 Rock Creek Road, N. Wilkesboro, NC 28659.
