Calvin Wayne Wright Jr.

Calvin Wayne Wright, Jr., age 53, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC.
Calvin was born November 16, 1970, in Surry County to Calvin Wayne Wright Sr. and Shirley Ann Marsh Lewis. He was a member of Elkin Valley Baptist Church. Calvin was a caring father and loved his family more than anything. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life.  Calvin was an exceptional athlete, winning specific awards and recognitions in his career. He was a year-round athlete.  He loved playing golf and all types of sports.  He enjoyed family vacations and just being with his family. He was a respectful, intelligent man with a big heart.  He has many close friends who have been like family over the years.  He will be greatly missed.
Calvin was preceded in death by his daughter, Mercedes Wright.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Shirley Lewis and husband Danny; father and stepmother, Calvin Wright Sr. and wife Joyce Ann; son Houston Wright and partner John Johnson of East Bend; brother Kevin Lewis and wife Ginger of Ronda; sister Vicki Shearin of Spring Hope, NC; and grandchildren Keyana Martin and Kamden Wright.
A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Dr. Johnny Blevins and Rev. Mark Shoaf officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
The family is deeply grateful for the overwhelming support and love shown by everyone who called, texted, or visited during Calvin’s illness. Your kindness and compassion have been a source of strength during this difficult time.
