In Loving Memory of Carol Caudill Winebarger February 4, 1945 – March 15, 2024
With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to Carol Caudill Winebarger, who graced our lives for 79 years. Carol peacefully departed from her earthly home on Friday, March 15, 2024, at her residence in Traphill, North Carolina, to join her heavenly abode.
Her legacy of love, kindness, and unyielding strength will forever echo in the hearts of all who were privileged to know her. Carol was born on February 4, 1945, in Wilkes County, North Carolina, to the late Rev. Boyd Johnson Caudill and Lucy Lance Caudill. From her earliest days, she exuded a radiant spirit that illuminated the lives of countless souls. A beacon of light, she offered solace and steadfast support to all who crossed her path. Throughout her life, Carol was not only a cherished friend and devoted family member but also a tireless advocate for those in need. She found joy in the company of her loved ones and had a passion for poetry. Carol was a faithful member of Little Stone Mountain Baptist Church and a proud alumna of North Wilkes High School. She contributed her talents as a former employee at Winebarger Motor Company in Elkin, NC, and as the former owner of Austin Café in Elkin, NC.
Carol leaves behind a cherished legacy and is survived by her beloved husband, Dean Winebarger, of the home. She is also survived by her sisters, Bertha Hanks of Jonesville, NC, Betty Lyon of Elkin, NC, Joyce West and husband Gary of Roaring River, NC, her brother John Caudill and wife Linda of Traphill, NC, and sister-in-law Bonnie Caudill of Ronda, NC. She will be deeply missed by her son, Gregory Byrd of Wilkesboro, NC, her special daughter, Shelly Lawrence of Elkin, NC, and her grandchildren: Ian Byrd, Hunter Carlino, Ivy Culbreth, Justyce Byrd, and Augusta Byrd. Carol was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon Caudill and Grady Caudill.
A graveside service will be held Monday, March 18, 2024 at 11:00 am at Little Stone Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Walter Hutchinson officiating. Mrs. Winebarger will lie in state at Elkin Funeral Service on Sunday, March 17, 2024 from 11:00am until 5:00pm.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Elkin Pediatric and Adult Medicine and Mountain Valley Hospice for their compassionate care.
In honor of Carol's memory, donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice in lieu of flowers, a gesture that reflects her spirit of kindness and generosity. Carol's presence will be sorely missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us all. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing she was deeply loved and cherished by all who knew her.
