Carol Yarboro Bruce

Carol Yarboro Bruce, age 83, passed away Friday December 27, 2024 at Hugh Chatham Health. Carol was born July 26, 1941 in Surry County to Talmadge and Louise Burcham Yarboro. 

Carol worked at Spainhours for many years and later retired from Pleasant Hill Daycare. She was a member of Grassy Creek United Methodist Church where she served as a youth leader and choir director. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Bruce, and a brother, Donald Yarboro. 

Survivors include, a son, Marty Bruce and wife Wendy of Elkin, Mitzi Sparks and husband Curtis of Ronda, seven grandchildren, Ali Souther and husband Landon, Sarah Bruce, Lakyn Fender and husband Garrett, Abby Bullington and husband Luke, Austin Cooke and wife Taylor, Colby Cooke and wife Laken, Emma Cooke, eight great grandchildren, Ireland Souther, Braxton Souther, Rhett Souther, Hadley Fender, Grover Fender, Marlee Fender, Conley Cooke, Canaan Cooke. 

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at 11:00 am at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Dr. Jeremy Simpson. Burial will follow in Grassy Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 am prior to the service at Elkin Funeral Service.
