Carolyn Wells Smith

Mrs. Carolyn Wells Smith, age 86, passed away Monday, March 27, 2023 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston Salem.  Mrs. Smith was born September 3, 1936 in Yadkin County to Elijah and Sallie Adams Wells.

Mrs. Smith was a member of Elkin Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, William David Smith, Jr.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Waymoth and Blanche Wells, William and Annie Mae Wells; sister and brother-in-law, Woodrow and Evelyn Wells Sparks; brother, Abram Wells.

Survivors include: her husband, William David “Bill” Smith of the home; son , Alan Smith and wife Mary-Katherine Smith of Durham; daughter, Lori Trexler  and husband Matthew of Clemmons; daughter-in-law, Terri Owens Smith of Cary; sister-in-law, Honorii Wells; grandchildren, Parker Trexler, Will Trexler, Jordan Smith, Logan Speaker and Spencer Rivers; 2 great grandchildren, Tripp Speaker and Grady Speaker.

A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Crestwood Memorial Gardens in State Road with Rev. Scott Chenevey officiating. Following the graveside ceremony, the family is gathering at Stone Mountain Park to share a light catered lunch at the Hemlock Shelter. You are welcome to join & bring a dish to share but not required.
