Charles "Chuck" Hemric

Mr. Charles “Chuck” Hemric, 59, passed away Monday, August 21, 2023 peacefully at his home.  Born in Wilkes County, he was the son of James “Jim” Aaron Hemric and Edith Charles Hemric.

Mr. Hemric was a graduate of Horticulture Technology from Wilkes Community College and held a Duke University certification in Non-Profit Management.  He was a board member of the Duke Hospital Auxiliary Board, chaired other local, statewide, and national boards serving the non-profit sector.  He provided non-profit management training, was an active volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House of Durham and served as a Deacon of his church. Mr. Hemric coached various youth league sports, had an extensive knowledge of basketball and was an avid gardener.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hemric is survived by his wife, Heather Smith Hemric; his son, Andy Hemric (Caroline); and daughter, Faith Hemric; grandchild, Josie Hemric; brother, Randy Hemric (Connie), and sister Dawn Osborne (Lauren).

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 24, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Grey Stone Church officiated by Dr. Clay Waters and Rev. Jamison Berthold.  A funeral service will be held Friday, August 25, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Little Elkin Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Steve Fowler. Mr. Hemric will Lie-in-State from 1:00 - 2:00 PM prior to the service with the burial following in the Church Cemetery in Ronda NC. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 23, 2023, 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Clements Funeral Home in Durham.
