Charles Clinton Lethcoe

Rev. Charles Clinton Lethcoe, age 90, of Jonesville passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at Pruitt Health in Elkin.  Rev. Lethcoe was born February 16, 1933 in Washington County, Virginia to Charles W. and Elizabeth C. Paxton Lethcoe.

Rev. Lethcoe was a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesville where he taught the men’s Bible class and was a member of Young at Heart Senior Fellowship. He served in the United States Air Force from 1950 – 1954; then he received his Bachelor of Arts in 1958 from Wake Forest University and graduated with a Master of Arts in Divinity with languages from Southeastern Baptist Seminary in 1962.  Rev. Lethcoe served as the pastor for several Baptist churches including Germanton Baptist Church, Connelly Springs Baptist Church, Center Grove Baptist Church, and Elkin Valley Baptist Church where he also taught the men’s Bible class. He was interim pastor for many more Baptist churches. Rev. Lethcoe served on the Board of Directors for the Tri-County Christian Ministry in Elkin and Mountain Valley Hospice.

In addition to his parents Rev. Lethcoe was preceded in death by his wife, Kay S. Lethcoe; sisters, Hazel and Elizabeth; brothers, Harold, Maurice, Paul, Ernest, Howard and Frank.

Survivors include: daughters, Ellen L. Frost and husband David of Dallas, TX and Julia L. Moore and husband Sam of Black Mountain, NC; grandchildren, Benjamin Moore, Madeline Moore, Andrew Frost and fiancée Joni Rorije, Carolyn Frost and honorary granddaughter, Grace Beale.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Crestwood Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by US Air Force Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Jonesville Fellowship Hall. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Jonesville with Dr. Roger Hensley officiating.
