Charles Leon Phillips

Mr. Charles Leon Phillips, age 87, of Morrisville, formerly of Twin Oaks, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Duke Raleigh Hospital in Raleigh.

Mr. Phillips was born August 4, 1934 in Surry County to Oscar and Ruth Anthony Phillips.

Mr. Phillips retired from the NC Highway Patrol after 28 years of service and was a member of Cedar Fork Baptist Church. He was also a veteran of the United States Army.

Mr. Phillips was an avid gardener and enjoyed watching the New York Yankees Baseball team and the North Carolina Tar Heels.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include: his loving wife of 66 years, Dixie Carter Phillips of the home; daughter, Chris Wright and husband John of Raleigh; son, Chuck Phillips and wife Lisa of Garner; a sister, Audrey Adkins of Elkin; grandchildren, Brooke Phillips, Nick Phillips, Hailey Phillips, Robert Wright and fiancée Amanda Wyant, Charles Wright and wife Mandy, Philip Wright and wife Greyson, Hannah Wright and fiance Richard King and Molly Wright; great-grandchildren, Caleb Wright, Will Wright, Olivia Wright, Brooks Wright, Kori Wright, Alayla Wright, Dallas Wright and Lucy Wright and niece, Mesha Hearn.

A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in State Road.
