Charles Leslie Talley

Rev. Charles Leslie Talley, age 88, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at SECU Hospice Center in Yadkinville.

Rev. Talley was born September 26, 1934 in Highlands, North Carolina to Lynn Talley and Charlotte Keener Talley. Rev. Talley was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a graduate of Fruitland Bible College. He was an ordained minister and pastored Crossroads Baptist Church, Roaring Gap Baptist Church, Copeland Baptist Church, and Shady Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Talley was also a painter and farmer.

In addition to his parents, Rev. Talley was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Irene Frances Nixon Talley; brothers Gordon Talley, Cliff Talley, Lewis Talley; and sisters, Sarah Davis, Martha Reece, and Berta Lee Durci.

Survivors include: son, Steve Talley and wife Beverly of State Road; daughters, Debbie Hemric and husband Don of State Road, and Pat Zimmerman of Yadkinville; sisters, Eva Marshall of Mt. Kisco, New York and Beatrice Ruhl and husband John of Havelock; grandchildren, Grace Talley, Kaylin Talley, Logan Salley, and Olivia Salley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted Sunday, February 5, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Kenny Wood officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 5, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service .
