Christine Powers Morris

Christine Powers Morris, age 74, of Jonesville, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

Christine was born January 5, 1949 in Surry County to David L. Powers, Sr. and Kathryne Smith Powers.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elkin and retired from Yadkin Valley Telephone Company where she worked as the Customer Service Store Manager.

Christine was preceded in death by her father David L. “Red” Powers, Sr.

Survivors include: her mother, Kathryne S. Powers of Elkin; two sons, Marcus Bryant and his wife Dayna of Boonville, and Michael Bryant and fiancée Ashley Seigler of Elkin; a brother, David L. Powers, Jr. and his wife Tere of Colorado; a daughter Cindy Matthews Bryant of Yadkinville; a sister, Carolyn P. Wright and her husband John of Conway, SC; four grandchildren, Katelyn Victoria Bryant of Jonesville, Summer Leeann Bryant of Yadkinville, Tyson Matthew Bryant of Boonville, and Major William Bryant of Elkin; three great grandchildren Koben Allen Bryant, Kashton Aaron Bryant, and Klair Drew Bryant; and her canine companion, CoCo.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 2:00p.m. in the Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Mark Reece officiating.  Interment will follow at Hollywood Cemetery in Elkin.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. one hour prior to the service at Elkin Funeral Service.
