Clara Cheek Edwards

Mrs. Clara Cheek Edwards, age 89, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Pruitt Health of Elkin.  Mrs. Edwards was born December 7, 1934 in Surry County to John Wesley and Ticy Wood Cheek.

Clara was an active member of Pleasant Home Baptist Church for 70 years.  She served in several areas including as a Sunday school teacher, choir member and WMU.  Clara was also a charter member of Wilkes Quilt Guild.  She was an avid bowler and bowled in tournaments all over the United States.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Allen “Poppy” Edwards, two brothers, Joe Bill Cheek, Clarence Cheek, a sister, Anna Mae Evans Maas.

Survivors include, two sons, Allen Edwards and wife Martha of Ronda, Mike Edwards and wife Carol of Elkin, two sisters, Doris Evans of Hamptonville, Marie Niemeic of State Road, four grandchildren, Holly Burcham, Rocky Edwards and wife Amanda, April Cardwell and husband Brian, Amy Samples and husband Josh, ten great grandchildren, Owen Burcham, Caid Burcham, Kove Burcham, Teigan Edwards, Rhett Edwards, Addie Edwards, Charity Cardwell, Faith Cardwell, Tate Samples, Jace Samples.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday March 5, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Pleasant Home Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Bauguess and Pastor Brian Cardwell officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm prior to the service at the church.
