Clifford Jordan

August 5, 1924 — November 24, 2019

Mr. Joseph “Clifford” Jordan, age 95, of Elkin passed away Sunday, November 24, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Clifford was born August 5, 1924 in Wilkes County, NC to Joseph Luther and Alma Burchette Jordan.

Mr. Jordan was a WWII veteran of the United States Army, and being wounded in action, earned a Purple Heart. He was a dedicated Christian and longtime member of Benham Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon, Sunday school teacher, church clerk, and treasurer. He was also a member of The Gideons International.

He was a willing servant and rose to the opportunities which came his way. He served with the NC Baptist men association, which gave him the opportunity to serve families in the eastern part of NC, working on storm damaged homes and working locally with Habitat for Humanity.

Clifford worked at Chatham Mfg. as a machinist, as well as being a longtime cattle, and chicken farmer. He enjoyed working with his bees as a bee keeper.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Eileen Johnson, and a brother, Quentin Jordan.

Survivors include: his wife of 70 years, Ramona Settle Jordan of the home; two sons, Wayne Jordan and wife Theressa of Elkin; and Keith Jordan and wife Brenda of Huntersville; four grandchildren, Stacie Eller and husband Eric, Melissa Smithey and husband Mark, Dane Jordan and wife Annette, and Erin Poole and husband James; two step grandchildren, Amy Mathis and husband Davis, and Brad Higgins; Nine great grandchildren, and one on the way; and two step great grandchildren; two Brothers, Rev. Kenneth Jordan, and Charles Jordan both of Roaring River.

A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Benham Baptist Church by Dr. Gary Byrd, Rev. Kenneth Jordan, and Rev. Julius Blevins. Burial with full military honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on hour prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 at the church.
