Danny Kennedy

Mr. Daniel Warren “Danny” Kennedy, age 69, of Roaring River passed away Thursday, February 17, 2022, at the SECU Hospice Center in Yadkinville. Mr. Kennedy was born March 19, 1952, in Surry County to Van Warren Kennedy and Colleen Gentry Kennedy.

Mr. Kennedy was a loyal active member of Gid Branch Baptist Church.  Danny loved the LORD, his family  and his church family dearly.

During his working career, Danny was a Project Superintendent with Shelco, LLC.  After 26 years of managing project large and small in Boone, Charlotte, Winston Salem and Raleigh, Danny left his mark on many fine projects, retiring in 2012.

Danny spent his spare time fishing, hunting, or playing golf with his family and close friends.

Mr. Kennedy was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include: his daughter, Daniyel Kennedy-Bates of State Road; mother, Colleen Gentry Kennedy of Elkin; sister, Cathy Kennedy Peabody and her husband Howard of Mooresville; brother, Van Warren Kennedy Jr. and his wife Brenda of Roaring River, Terry Kennedy and his wife Lynn of Elkin; grandchildren, Amber Phillips, Misty Chipman Weidemann-Shaw, Steven Michael Robinson, Jr.; 12 great-grandchildren; 8 nieces and nephews; 10 great nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be conducted Monday, February 21, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Gid Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Royal, Rev. James Hall, and Rev. Bobby Lyles officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church fellowship hall from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Gid Branch Baptist Church, 11001 Haystack Rd, Thurmond, NC  28683.

The family would like to express our deepest appreciation to all the Mountain Valley Hospice personnel, especially the staff at Yadkinville for their compassionate care during this time.
