David Alan Royal

Mr. David Alan Royal, age 51, of State Road passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at his home. Mr. Royal was born September 8, 1969 in Surry County to J.C. Royal and Tonia Brown Spicer.

Mr. Royal was a member of White Rock United Methodist Church and served as chaplain for Mountain Park Rescue Squad. He was a member of State Road and Austin-Traphill Volunteer Fire Department and was employed at Tampco Inc.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Marie Norman and Bryce Brown; paternal grandparents, Herman and Nonnie Royal; stepmother, Wilda Norma; and father-in-law, Ira Grant Cothren.

Survivors include: his loving wife, Lisa Cothren Royal of the home; mother, Tonia Spicer and husband Larry of Elkin; brothers, Jay Jarvis and wife Michelle of Elkin, Andy Spicer of State Road; mother-in-law, Shirley Cothren Grubbs and husband Stephen of Cana, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at White Rock United Methodist Church with Dr. Richard Brinegar and Rev. William Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Visitation with the family will be available at other times at 750 W. Main St., Elkin, NC 28621.
