Delcie Gentry Lyon

Mrs. Delcie Inez Gentry Lyon, age 82, of Thurmond, passed away peacefully, Saturday, November 4, 2023.  Mrs. Lyon was born July 20, 1941 in Surry County to Tyra and Martha Hutchinson Gentry.

Delcie retired from Lucia and was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul, Ralph, Vaughn and Ray Gentry, two sisters, Grace Poplin and Erma Hayes.

Survivors include: her husband of 66 years, William Thomas “Bill” Lyon of the home, a son, Danny Lyon and wife Karen of Elkin, a daughter, Tammy Prevette and husband Randy of Thurmond, two grandchildren, Kayla Westra and husband Coad, Dillon Prevette and wife DeAnna, six great grandchildren, Inezleigh Westra, Iselle Westra, Esma Westra, Eiris Westra, Liam Prevette, Analiese Prevette.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Pleasant View Baptist Church at 4:00 pm with Rev. Robby Wood, Rev. Kenny Wood and Rev. Joseph Wood officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00 pm prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Pleasant View Baptist Church.
