Derek Sheldon Millaway

Mr. Derek Sheldon Millaway, age 30, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at his residence.  Derek was born June 16, 1991 in Surry County to Sheldon Brett and Tammy Norman Millaway.

Derek was a member of the United States Army National Guard having served in Afghanistan and was of the Christian Faith.   He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Nelson Millaway, and his maternal grandfather, Allen Norman.

Survivors include: his wife, Paige Stanich Millaway of the home, a son, Levi David Millaway, his father Sheldon “Brett” Millaway of Jonesville, his mother, Tammy Millaway of Mooresville, and his step mother, Lesia Finney of Mooresville, a brother, Andrew Nelson Millaway and girlfriend Melissa of Jonesville, a step brother, Cody Tyler Finney of Greensboro.  His paternal grandparents, Edward & Gladys Bauguess and maternal grandmother, Tootsie Reed.

The family will receive friends Sunday, July 4, 2021 from 2-3pm at Elkin Funeral Service.  A graveside service will follow at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Fugate and Minister Lynn Kunkle officiating.
