Dewey Wallace Byrd

Mr. Wallace Byrd, age 82, passed away Monday, November 14, 2022 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin.

Mr. Byrd was born February 1, 1940 in Surry County to Otis Byrd and Iris Sexton Byrd. He was a member of Benham Baptist Church and retired from Darnell Parts Service, Inc.

Wallace was preceded in death by his parents.

Survirors include: his wife of 61 years, Faye Vickers Byrd of the home; daughter, Sandra Byrd Harris of Greer, SC; sisters, Paulette Burcham and husband Ronald of Elkin, Jean Simpson and husband Don of Elkin; grandchildren, Joshua Aaron Harris and wife Kaitlin of Travelers Rest, SC, Kelsey Harris Serrao and husband Anthony of Greer, SC; great grandchildren, Kenzie Harris, Carson Harris, Easton Harris and Denver-Riggs Serrao.

A funeral service will be conducted Friday, November 18, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Benham Baptist Church with Rev. Julius Blevins and Rev. Joe Souther officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
