Dewey D Shelton

Mr. Dewey Douglas Shelton, age 77, of Traphill passed away Thursday, June 15, 2023 at his home. Mr. Shelton was born August 31, 1945 in Forsyth County to Casey Shelton and Ruth Marshall Shelton. Dewey was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Craig Shelton; sisters, Barbara Ketner and Lottie (Ralph) Shouse and their son Tray; brothers, Wade Shelton, Alvin Shelton and David Shelton; nieces, Mandy Ketner, Robin Shelton Surmmons; mother-in-law, Eloise Tilley and father-in-law, Roy Lyon. Survivors include: his wife of 55 ½ years, Mary Ruth “Boosie” Lyon Shelton of the home; son, Douglas Shelton; daughter-in-law, Misty Shelton Bennett and husband Brad; brother, Don Shelton; sister, Cathy Shelton; grandchildren, Emma Grace Shelton and Evan Joseph Shelton; nieces, Sonya Ketner and Cecelia Ketner; nephews, Larry Shelton, John Shelton and Todd Shouse; brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Doe Cox; nephew, Jeffrey Cox and son Qua; niece, Amanda (Dennis) Atkinson and sons, Josiah and Ezra; special sister, Susie Holbrook and special brother-cousin, Bill Lyon. A graveside service will be conducted Sunday, June 25, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Knobbs Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Danny Dodds officiating.
