Eleanor Petree Green

Eleanor Lorraine Petree Green, 91, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, October 11, 2024, at Wilkes Medical Center. Eleanor was born on May 21, 1933 to Lewis and Edith Petree. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Peggy Couch and brother, Frank Petree.

Eleanor was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was loved by her family very much. She graduated from Davis Nursing School in 1954. She worked for Wilkes General Hospital as a RN for over 23 years and Elkin Hospital preceding that. She enjoyed life, had a great marriage and will be missed by all.

She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Ronda and played the organ for over 50 years. She is survived by her husband, Edward Green of the home, three sons, Dale Green, and wife, Cathy of Ronda; Scott Green, and wife, Lisa of Ronda; and Andy Green, and wife, Sarcanda of Jonesville; four grandchildren, Hannah Blackburn and husband, Adam of Ronda; Zane Green and wife Paris of Boonville; Kendra Bell and husband, Nathan of Ronda and Will Green of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and three great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Hampton and Hazel Blackburn of Ronda.

She had a special gift in sending cards to those going through difficult situations to express her love and concern. She had an avid love of anything related to Cardinal birds. She was known far and wide for her special five-flavor pound cake, homemade pimento cheese and lace cookies.

The family would like to give a special thanks to close friends Shelvia Everidge, Jennie Brown, Larry and Peggy Brown, Pam Walker and Vikki Absher.

Eleanor will lie in state on October 14, 2024 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM with funeral to follow at 11:00 AM at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 3982 Clingman Road, Ronda, NC, 28670. Burial will follow at the cemetery. Reverend Elmer Barker and Reverend James Safrit will officiate. Pallbearers will be Zane Green, Adam Blackburn, Nathan Bell, Franklin Petree, Don Redding and Larry Brown. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 3982 Clingman Road, Ronda, NC 28670.
