Ellen Hawkins

Mrs. Ellen Elizabeth Myers Hawkins, age 81, of Elkin passed away Monday, February 1, 2021 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Mrs. Hawkins was born December 12, 1939 in Surry County to Ernest Paul and Eugenia Carrie York Myers.

Mrs. Hawkins was a member of Welcome Home Missionary Baptist Church and retired from Golden Needles. She was a loving and caring mother, and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Amber Royal; brother, James Myers; and infant sister, Wyldene Myers.

Survivors include: son, Mike Hawkins and wife Emily of Elkin; daughter, Cynthia Hawkins and husband John Bryant of Elkin; sister, Shirley Sparks and husband Bud of State Road; grandchildren, Christopher Royal and wife Hannah, Johnathan Brown and wife Katie, Amy Hawkins, Bethany Stoltzfus and husband Aaron; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Royal, James Royal, Arzetta Royal, Austin Brown, Elizabeth Brown, Addallee Stoltzfus; and canine companions, Buster and Odie.

A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Welcome Home Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Jackie Caudill, Rev. Danny Royal, and Rev. Ritchie Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Hawkins will lie-in-state from 12:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd, Dobson, NC 27017.
