Elmer Ray Jolly

Mr. Elmer Ray Jolly, age 76, of Roaring River passed away Friday, October 4, 2019 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  Mr. Jolly was born August 16, 1943 in Wilkes County to William Worth Jolly and Gertie Jordan Jolly.

He was a lifelong member of White Plains Baptist Church. Mr. Jolly worked for Home Chair and Burlington industries in Ronda. He was a master carpenter and woodworker and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Jolly was a free-hearted man who loved his family and friends. He enjoyed life and spending time with his family attending sporting events. He was the first president of the Roaring River Ruritan Club and a lifelong member of the Roaring River Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Jolene Jolly Love and brother, Earl Dean Jolly.

Survivors include: his loving wife of 56 years, Kay Key Jolly of the home; sons, Mike Jolly and his wife Dawn of Roaring River and Mark Jolly and his wife Jammie of Roaring River; grandchildren, Brandon Jolly and his wife Victoria of Mooresville, Taylor Tharpe and her husband Graylan of Roaring River, Will Jolly and Tess Jolly of Roaring River; great granddaughters, Cora Jolly and Eva Tharpe; brothers, Ralph Jolly and Wife Rosa of Roaring River and Alvin Jolly of Roaring River; sister-in-law, Etta Jolly of Jonesville and several special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, October 6, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at White Plains Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Wood and Rev. William Souther officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
