Emma Dean Reed

Mrs. Emma Dean Sherfey Reed, age 90, of Jonesville passed away Sunday, February 13, 2022 at her home. Mrs. Reed was born September 23, 1931 in Carter County, TN to Bill and Nellie Morton Sherfey.

Mrs. Reed was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking for others, helping others, and loved her church family. Mrs. Reed was a loving wife, mother, and Maw Maw.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Sherfey.

Survivors include: her loving husband of 64 years, John Reed of the home; son, Timothy Reed and wife Phyllis; grandsons, Andy Reed and his wife Julie, Mike Reed and his wife LeAnna; great-grandchildren, Jordan Reed, Owen Reed, Brady Reed, and Adelyn Reed.

A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Danny Dodds officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. The family requests that everyone attending the services to please wear a mask.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 688 N. Bridge St., Elkin, NC 28621.
