Ervin Rufus Dodson

Mr. Ervin Rufus Dodson, age 75, of Elkin passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at his home. Mr. Dodson was born July 17, 1945 in Surry County to Rufus D. and Mamie Mae White Dodson.

Mr. Dodson was a member of Charity Hill Baptist Church and retired from Chatham Manufacturing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Cora Lee Brown Dodson; sister, Nannie Spicer; brothers, Avery Lee Dodson and Grady Dodson.

Survivors include: son, David E. Dodson of Elkin; daughter, Michelle Dodson Park and husband Jeff of Elkin; six sisters, Ruby Lynn, Dorothy Royall, Veronia Luffman, Ronda Spicer, special sisters Sethia Belle Dodson and Sally Dodson; grandchildren, Chris “Poncho” Park and wife Kendra “Red”, Kaitlyn “Tater” Dodson, Ashlyn “Patch” Park, Kyle “Drew” Dodson; great-grandchildren, Andrew “Toe Head” Park and Aaron “Cabbage Head” Park.

A funeral service with limited seating will be conducted Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Charity Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Cardwell, Bro. Ken Tilley, Bro. Chris Park, and Bro. Keith Brown officiating. For the funeral service guests are encouraged to stay in their cars and tune their radios to 88.3 FM. Following the funeral service everyone is welcome to attend the committal in the church cemetery. Mr. Dodson will lie-in-state Friday, August 21, 2020 from 12:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
