Evelyn Cockerham Gentry

Mrs. Evelyn Cockerham Gentry, age 75, of Elkin went to her heavenly home on Thursday, February 24, 2022. Mrs. Gentry was born December 6, 1946 in Wilkes County to Howard Cockerham and Brettie Barker Cockerham.

Mrs. Gentry loved the Lord and was a member of Oak Level Baptist Church. She retired from Vaughn Bassett Furniture. Mrs. Gentry loved her family and was always willing to help anyone in any way possible. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Gentry; brothers, William Cockerham, James Cockerham, and Arlie Cockerham; sisters, Mary Watkins, Nellie Cockerham, and Lilly Cockerham.

Survivors include: her son, Rixie Spicer and his wife Lynn; daughters, Mazie Loggins and her husband Daniel and Betty Spicer; stepsons, Dean Gentry and Donnie Gentry; brother, Carlie Cockerham and his wife Weezie; sisters, Nancy McCann and Martha Cockerham; grandchildren, Chris Caudill, Dean Caudill, Shasta Smoker, Tabby James, Mandy Reed, and Britany Bryant; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Level Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Rose Glen Manor, 240 Independence Ave, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659.
