Mr. Frank Alfred Youngquist, 85, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at his residence in Thurmond.
Born on December 16, 1936, in Lueders, Texas; Frank (Tex) Alfred Youngquist also affectionately known as “Pa” was a kind and gentle soul who enriched the lives of everyone who knew him. A retired 23 year Chief Petty Officer Boiler Technician for the U.S. Navy and self-taught mechanic, he enjoyed working alongside his children and grandchildren in his shop. As an avid classic car fan he restored numerous vehicles of historical significance.
Pa was a devoted husband, father, and Grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth Medley Youngquist, his sister Maria McCarty, six children: James Youngquist of Thurmond, NC; Myra Slaydon and husband Scott of Mt. Airy, NC; Myrna Blevins and husband Keith of Thurmond, NC; Carl Youngquist and wife Sandy of Elkin, NC; Michele Youngquist of Thurmond, NC; Erik Younquist and wife Sherry of Bowling Green, KY.
Pa’s seven grandchildren include: Amanda Flippin; Sherrie Schlaht and husband Colby; Ryan Blevins; Nathan Handy and wife Lauren; Dillon Youngquist; Daniel Burcham; Wes Youngquist.
Pa’s three great-grandchildren: Luke and Natalie Handy, Everly Schlaht.
Pa was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis and Mabel Youngquist; his brother Wayne Youngquist; sister Laverene Carter; and great-grandson Daniel Burcham Jr.
He was dearly loved and will be missed by all.
A graveside service will be conducted at Crestwood Memorial Gardens at 2:00 on Sunday, December 18, 2022 with Rev. Adam Collins officiating. The family will receive friends at Elkin Funeral Service on Sunday, December 18, 2022 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
