Gay Ross Faw, age 72, of Wilkesboro, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2025. Born on May 18, 1952, to Posey Alexander Ross and Reba Ross in Wilkes County, Gay lived a life filled with love, kindness, and devotion.
She was a dedicated secretary for the North Carolina Department of Transportation and took great pride in her work. Gay was known for her culinary skills, love of birdwatching, and fondness for flowers and their fragrance. Above all, she was a loving and caring individual who cherished her family, church, and faith in the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Gay is survived by her sons, Kevin Howell (Rachel Godwin) of Winston Salem and Brandon Howell (Leslie Barfield) of Millers Creek. She is also survived by her brother Grayland Ross of Roaring River and her sisters Pat Holbrook of Greensboro, Gwenda Wagoner of North Wilkesboro, Jerry Blackburn of Clover, South Carolina, and Lynn Alexander of Elkin. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Caleb Howell, Christopher Howell, Colby Howell, Zachary Allen, and her great-grandchild, Lily Howell.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Benham Baptist Church, with Rev. David Welborn and Rev. Julius Blevens officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
