George Grady Felts

Mr. George Grady Felts, age 99, of Elkin passed away Friday, November 12, 2021 at his home. Mr. Felts was born October 3, 1922 in Surry County to John Brady Felts, Sr. and Annie Jane Hamby Felts.

Mr. Felts was a member of Grassy Creek United Methodist Church and was a United States Navy Veteran, serving during World War II. He worked at Chatham Manufacturing for 20 years and then worked as a welding instructor in the Wilkes County School System. George loved to hunt and fish. The only thing that made him happier was his family. He was so incredibly proud of them. His grandchildren, and more recently, his great grandchildren were the light and spirit of his life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Swaim Felts; brother, J.B. Felts, Jr.; and sister, Mary Holland; and longtime companion, Lola Anderson.

Survivors include: his son, Dr. Steve Felts and wife Eva Jane of Lewisville, NC; grandchildren, Drew Felts and his wife Katy; Ashley Felts Epting and her husband Phil; Brittany Felts and her fiancé Kyle Mischinski; and great-grandchildren, Henry Felts, George Felts, Scarlett Epting and Walker Epting.

A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, November 21, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Grassy Creek United Methodist Church with Pastor Jim Prichard officiating. Burial with full military honors provided by the US Navy Honor Guard and Yadkin VFW Post 10346 will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. The family requests that masks be worn by all attendees.

The family would like to thank neighbors, Margaret and Benny Darnell, Troy Hall, and Annette Brown, as well as, the caregivers and team at Bayada Health Care for all their attention and care over the past few years.
