George Robert Jenkins, Sr.

Mr. George Robert Jenkins, Sr., age 97, of Elkin passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Yadkin Nursing Care Center. Mr. Jenkins was born November 27, 1921 in Forsyth County to Grover Paul and Viola Newman Jenkins.

Mr. Jenkins was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in World War II, and retired from Roadway Express Trucking.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Stella Jenkins; one brother; and one sister.

Survivors include: son, George Robert “Bobby” Jenkins, Jr. of Elkin; daughter, Elaine Craddock of Winston-Salem; sisters, Fay Smith of Crawfordville, TX, Jan Goode of Greensboro; grandchildren, Hallie Kask of Florida, Sarah Bartley and husband Dale of Elkin; and six great grandchildren.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at a later date.
