Glenn Burges Owings

Mr. Glenn Burges Owings Jr., age 78, of State Road, passed away Friday, December 2, 2022 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Owings was born April 30, 1944 in Wilkes County to Glenn Burges Owings Sr. and Bonnie Frances Holman Owings.

Mr. Owings attended Arlington First Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Goforth and Joan Reams.

Survivors include: his wife, Linda Calloway Owings, of the home; children, Laura Owings Netherland and husband Mark of Richmond, VA; David Owings and wife Jill of State Road, Amy Owings of Walkertown; brother, Eugene Owings and wife Sue of North Wilkesboro; sisters, Frances Goforth and husband Milton of Purlear, Betty Owens of North Wilkesboro, June Adams and husband Larry of North Wilkesboro; grandchildren, Christopher Norby and wife Erin, Samuel McCaffrey; great-grandchildren; Conner Norby and Owen Norby; several loving nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted Monday, December 5, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Chris Alford officiating.

Burial will follow in Crestwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
