Harvey Squire Wiles

Mr. Harvey Squire Wiles, age 74, of Hays passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at his home. Mr. Wiles was born March 28, 1947 in Wilkes County to Squire and Ethel Absher Wiles.

Mr. Wiles was a member of Traphill Baptist Church and a retired farmer. He was well known as the Christmas lights man due to his elaborate display on Wiles Ridge.  Mr. Wiles loved to talk about the Bible and spend time with his wife, daughters, and grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Willard Wiles and sister, Georgia Lee Wiles.

Survivors include: his loving wife of 57 years, Sue Patterson Wiles; daughters, Vickie Bell and husband Chuck, Janet Price and husband Mike, Pamela Foster and husband Michael, Tamara Holloway and husband Marty, and Darlene Wiles; grandchildren, Scott Bell, Nicolas Bell, Kayla Thompson, Andrew Billings, Logan Anthony, Julie Rhoades, Kimberly Colbert, Mackenzie Foster, Trevor Foster, Matthew Holloway, Brandon Holloway, and Faith Holloway; and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Mike Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
