Herbert Henry Settle

Mr. Herbert Henry Settle, age 90, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at his residence.

Mr. Settle was born October 19, 1932 in Surry County to William Henry and Naomi Layell Settle.

Herb was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church and the American Legion Post 336.  He was active in the Republican Party and worked the polls at CB Eller School for many years. Herb was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean conflict.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Holbrook Settle; brothers, Paul Settle, Dwight Settle and Silas Settle; sisters, Ruby Waddell, Hazel Byrd and Hallie Wooten.

Survivors include: daughters, Tammy Caudle and husband Jimmy of State Road, Jan Wilcox and husband Randy of Orlando, Florida; brother, Joe Settle of King; sisters, Annie Pearl Bauguess of Traphill and Mabel Bridges and husband Bernard of Sarasota, Florida; grandchildren, Jason and Jessica Caudle, Amanda and Eric Colbert, Lydia and Troy Boettner and Rachel Wilcox; and 9 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Friday, January 27, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Cool Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. David Key and Rev. Jeff Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors provided by the U. S. Army Honor Guard and Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
