Hettie Jenkins Wood

Mrs. Hettie Jenkins Wood, age 87, of Jonesville passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Wood was born December 14, 1934 in Yancy County to Fred and Mae Robinson Jenkins.

Mrs. Wood was a member of Arlington First Baptist Church and retired from Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Wood; infant daughter, Cynthia Wood; daughter, Kathy Darnell; son, Jeff Wood and his wife Denise Wood; brothers, Garland Jenkins and Mildred Macemore.

Survivors include: her daughter, Sandra Day and her husband Eddie of East Bend; sisters, Zula Darnell of Boonville, Brenda Carter and her husband Ron of Jonesville, Linda Fields; brother-in-law, Jack Macemore of Hamptonville; grandchildren, Emily Eckard and her husband Jeff, Ashley Darnell, Jessica Darnell, Amber Wood, Samuel Wood, McKinley Scott Wood, Todd Lee McCraw; 10 great-grandchildren; special neighbors, Dinah and Jeff Burcham, Nikki and Will Ritchie and their children.

A graveside service will be conducted Monday, May 9, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Sunrise Cemetery with Rev. Matty Ponce-de-Leon and Mr. Larry Collins officiating.
