Howard Glenn Baugus

Mr. Howard Glenn Baugus, age 94, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Baugus was born February 15, 1926 in Surry County to Rev. Gwyn B. Baugus and Stella Swaim Baugus. He was a member of Elkin Valley Baptist Church and a veteran of the US Army. Mr. Baugus retired from Chatham Manufacturing with 48 years of service.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Helen Johnson Baugus and sister, Alma B. Collins.

Survivors include: daughter, Gay Nell Bauguess and husband June, son, Eddie Baugus and wife Patti, son, Wendell Baugus and wife Joy and daughter, Bonnie Hawks and husband Tony; grandchildren, William Baugus, Jonathan Baugus and wife Mandy, Jeff Baugus and wife Jennifer, Eric Baugus and wife Shannon, Nathan Bauguess and wife Missy, Shawn Bauguess and wife Jen, Darrell Hawks and wife Alexandra and Zoey Hawks; great grandchildren, Kayla Baugus, Dillon Baugus, Star Baugus, Tyler Baugus, John Baugus, Ethan Bauguess and Stella Bauguess and special niece, Martha C. Bryant and her husband Mike.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, October 18, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Valley Baptist Church with Dr. Johnny Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Baugus will lie-in-state from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

The family requests memorials be made to Elkin Valley Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or Elkin Valley Trails Association.
