Mr. Howard Edward Prevette, age 84, of Ronda, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Westwood Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born in Wilkes County, NC, on December 14, 1939, to James Russell Prevette and Mary Lee Shepard Prevette.
Howard was preceded in death by his loving wife, Edna Prevette. Howard lived in Ronda most of his life and was known as Tick to those who knew him well. Howard was a very kind man who did a lot of good work for the church, the fire department, and the Shriners, of which he was an active member for many years.
He was a member of Maple Springs Baptist Church. Howard loved auto racing, was a great cook and enjoyed towing his grill to many barbecues, marching with the Shriners Patrol in parades, and loved his cat Skeeter.
In addition to his parents and wife, Howard was also preceded in death by two brothers, John David (Bud) Prevette and Jimmy Prevette, a sister, Margaret Cheek, and a son-in-law, Donnie Wagoner.
Howard is survived by his step-children, Faye H. Wagoner of Statesville and Larry Holyfield (Annette) of Lady Lake, FL. and grandchildren Josh Wagoner (Michelle) of Statesville, and Rachel Holyfield of Huntersville; great-grandchildren: Gabe, Piper, Eli, Sunshine, and Enoch Wagoner. Howard passed away at Westwood Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and the family would like to thank the staff there, especially the Sparky unit.
A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Ronda Cemetery.
