Hugh T. Burchette

Mr. Hugh Thomas Burchette, age 86, of State Road passed away Friday, January 21, 2022 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Burchette was born January 19, 1936 in Wilkes County to Robert Glenn Burchette and Maggie Kimmer Burchette.

Mr. Burchette was of the Baptist Faith and retired with the Civil Service. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Jimmy Burchette, Granville Burchette, Paul Burchette and a sister, Edith Osborne.

Survivors include: his wife of nearly 64 years, Elizabeth Money Burchette of the home; sons, Tommy Burchette and his wife Rachel of Charlottesville, Virginia; Danny Burchette and his partner Steve Phillips of Temple, Texas; Terry Burchette and his wife Pamela of Eufaula, Alabama, and Randy Burchette of Elkin; daughter, Beverly Ryan and her husband Gerard of Winston-Salem; sister, Glenda Carter and her husband Jimmy of East Bend; and sister-in-law Elizabeth H. Burchette of Julian and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Larry Macemore officiating. Interment will follow in Little Elkin Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors provided by Yadkin VFW Post 10346 and the US National Guard Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service a the funeral home.
