Ida Louise West

Louise Parks West, age 101, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Rose Glen Manor in North Wilkesboro, NC. Born December 25, 1923, in Wilkes County, North Carolina, to Edward Eugene Parks and Pearl Byrd Parks, Louise led a life of hard work and attention to duty.

Along with her husband, Walter, she was a tobacco and chicken farmer and enjoyed working outside, growing flowers, vegetable gardening, and mowing her lawn. In addition to these home duties, she enjoyed travel and made trips to Australia, Israel, the Caribbean, and the Southwestern United States.

Louise was predeceased by her father, Ed Parks; mother, Pearl Byrd Parks; husband, James Walter West; son, Daryle Connely West; half-sister, Zenith Smithey Mclver; half-brother, Isaac Smithey; and brother, Eugene Parks.

Louise is survived by her daughter, Sheila Price and husband James of Piedmont, South Carolina; granddaughter, Amy Eller and husband John of Huntersville, North Carolina; grandson, James West of Wooster, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Noah, Brooke, and Eva Eller; sister, Pauline Barker; daughter-in-law, Brenda West and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Louise enjoyed fellowship with her church family at Benham Baptist Church in Elkin, North Carolina, and was a member there for more than seventy years.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Benham Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Souther and Rev. Julius Blevins officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
