Ignatius Niemiec

Mr. Ignatious Rufus Niemic, age 75, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2022 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Niemiec was born December 29, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA to Rudolph Niemiec and Nannie Dodson Niemic.

Mr. Niemiec was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and retired with 44 years of service from Chatham Manufacturing, where he served as stockroom foreman. After retirement he pursued a degree in criminal justice at SCCC until his health no longer permitted. Mr. Niemiec loved sports and would play anything with a ball and during his youth he was a Gold Glove boxer. He coached little league baseball and football; and was an avid fisherman, UNC basketball fan, and Dallas Cowboys fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kimberly Annett Niemiec.

Survivors include: his loving wife of 58 years, Marie Cheek Niemiec of the home; sons, John R. Niemiec and his wife Maranda of State Road, Scott Niemiec and his wife Carmen of Dobson; daughters, Teresa Niemiec Carter and her husband Terry of Mocksville, Ticy Niemiec Shropshire and her husband Marty of Dobson; grandchildren, Samantha Southard and her husband Travis, Grayson Niemiec and his fiancée Olivia, Caleb Carter, Benjamin Carter, Dawson Shropshire, Aiden Shropshire, Berto Niemiec, Mia Niemiec; great-grandchildren, Mikaila Southard, Elias Southard, Ella Mae Southard, and Memphis Southard.
