Irene Burchette Woodruff

Mrs. Irene Burchette Woodruff, age 93, of Thurmond passed away Thursday, December 31, 2020 at her home. Mrs. Woodruff was born June 27, 1927 in McDowell County, WV to Everette D. and Carrie Poe Burchette.

Mrs. Woodruff was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and retired from Centel Telephone Company.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Newton Woodruff; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Ray and Delaine Burchette, Howard and Bonnie Burchette, Bill and Ethel Burchette; and brother-in-law, R.C. Chambers.

Survivors include: sons, Rick Woodruff and wife Anna, Tony Woodruff and wife Patty Jo; sister, Naida Chambers; grandchildren, Justin Woodruff, Kimberly Morgan and Joshua, Laura Shelton and husband Wayne, Susan Miller and husband Andrew; great-grandchildren, Eddie, Elijah, Jackson, and Adrienne.

A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Crestwood Memorial Gardens with Rev. Russ Nixon and Rev. Robbie Wood officiating. Mrs. Woodruff will lie-in-state Friday, January 1, 2021 from 12:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
