James Kenneth Finney

September 8, 1944 — April 20, 2024

James Kenneth Finney, age 79, of Elkin, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born in Surry County to Richard Ray and Dana Hayes Finney on September 8, 1944.
Ken worked at Harris Electric for many years and later worked for himself. He loved running, playing basketball, and traveling with his wife and friends.
He was a member of Grassy Creek United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Tommy Finney and Larry Finney.
Survivors include his wife Lois Cheek Finney of the home; daughter Robin Finney Paige and husband Russell of Banner Elk; special niece and nephew, Sarah Smith and Jacob Smith.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m., April 24, 2024, at Grassy Creek United Methodist Church by Rev. Stacey Eller and Rev. Alvin Hayes. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017
