James David McCann

James David McCann, age 80, passed away Wednesday, January 8th, 2025, at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory.

David was born January 8th, 1945, in Wilkes County to Worth and Ellen Pettyjohn McCann.

David was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was a past member of the State Road Volunteer Fire Department. David loved the North Carolina mountains and fishing at the coast. He also loved spending time with his family and church family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Burchette McCann, sisters; Dorthy Busby and JoAnn Martin, sister-in-law, Sandra White, and brother and sister-in-law, Mickey and Sharon Burchette.

Survivors include: a son and daughter-in-law, Eric McCann and wife Missy of Apel, IA, daughter, Julia McCann Johnson of State Road, sisters; Elsie Campbell of Landis, Betty Collins of Winston-Salem, and Cordia Smith and husband Randell of Pinehill, NC, grandchildren; Zachary Johnson and wife Codi, Joshua Johnson and wife Danielle, Matthew Johnson, Joe McCann and T.J. McCann, great granddaughter, Addison Johnson, and sister-in-law, Joan Walker.

A funeral service will be held, Monday, January 13th, 2025, at 2:00pm at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Danny Dodds officiating. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends 1-2pm prior to the service at the church.

Flowers will be accepted and memorials can be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
