Janie Southard Hudspeth

January 17, 1934 — May 9, 2022

Mrs. Janie Southard Hudspeth, age 88, of State Road passed away Monday, May 9, 2022 at her home. Mrs. Hudspeth was born January 17, 1934 in Surry County to Ervie V. Southard and Elva B. Southard.

Mrs. Hudspeth was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. She retired from the office of Dr. Jim Harrell, Sr. D.D.S and was a certified dental assistant.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bobby” Hudspeth and brother, Billy Southard.

Mrs. Hudspeth is survived by her son, Steve Hudspeth and his wife Kim; daughter, Holly Hudspeth Dudley and her husband Steve; sister, Marie Thompson; four grandchildren, Neil Hudspeth and his wife Jennifer, Cory Hudspeth, Lauren Dudley, and Blaine Dudley; three great-grandchildren, Maggie Hudspeth, Allie Hudspeth, and Sydnie Hudspeth.

A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Mountain Park Cemetery with Rev. Russ Nixon officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 688 N. Bridge St., Elkin, NC 28621.

The family would like to thank Susan Anthony, Wanda Clark, Pennie Haynes and Robin Martin for their love and care; Dr. Kesi Kindle-Suersin and the staff of Yadkin Valley Adult Medicine; and Ramona Pardue, Denise Lovett and the team at Mountain Valley Hospice for their support and care.
