Mr. Jasper C. Hanks, age 86 of Elkin, passed away Friday, May 29, 2020 at his residence. He was born October 26, 1933 in Yadkin County to Ruben and Virgie Creed Hanks. Mr. Hanks retired from Langenthal Mills in King and was a member of Little Richmond Baptist Church. He was a loving father, grandfather and neighbor and was an avid gardener.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Arvil Hanks and sister, Irene Wilhelm.
Survivors include: daughters, Martha Edwards and husband Allen of Ronda and Marlene Simpson and husband Kevin of Elkin; brother, Marvin Hanks of Winston-Salem; 4 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, June 1, 2020 at Little Richmond Baptist Church with Rev. J.V. Lowe and Rev. Danny Bauguess officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church cemetery. Mr. Hanks will lie-in-state at Little Richmond Baptist Church from 12:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane, Mt. Airy, NC 27030 or Tri-State Children’s Home, 1528 Vance Tank Road, Bristol, TN 37620.
The family would like to thank the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and the many family and friends for their care.
