Jeffery W Layell

Mr. Jeffery W. Layell, age 66, of Thurmond passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Hugh Chatham Hospital.  Mr. Layell was born July 16, 1956 in Wilkes County to William Monroe Layell and Ida Pansy Loyd Layell.

Mr. Layell enjoyed working on the family farm, playing with his grandbabies, watching western shows and he was an avid jokester who loved making everyone laugh.

He is preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include: his wife, Allison Lankford Layell of the home; son, Shane and wife Michelle; daughter, Kayla; his mother, Pansy Loyd Layell; brothers, Keith Layell and wife Shannon, Danny Layell and wife Tenna; sisters, Pam Riley and husband Jackie, Nikki Holbrook and husband Rudy, Kim Stanley and husband Kent; grandchildren, Dalton, Coltan and Natalie; several loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, June 24, at 3:30 p.m. at Crestwood Memorial Gardens with Rev. Donathan Layell and Rev. Brian Cardwell officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service prior to the service.
