Mr. Jessie Donald Hemric, age 81, of Elkin passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem.
Jessie was born March 2, 1943 in Wilkes County to James Archie and Gertie Mae Sparks. Jessie was a retired battalion chief in the Winston Salem fire department. He served 30 years.
Jessie was a member of Little Elkin Baptist Church. Jessie loved to sing, he was a founding member of the Joyful Noise Group. He was a youth leader at church and he loved playing golf, woodworking, gardening and tractors.
In addition to his parents, Jessie was preceded in death by a sister, Julia Ann Hemric and a brother, Johnny Clayton Hemric.
Jessie is survived by his wife, Judy Hemric of the home; sons, Bobby Hemric and wife Tammy of Elkin, Stan Hemric and wife Tracey of Elkin, Don Hemric and wife Debbie of State Road, Phil Hemric and wife April of Traphill; brothers, Jim Hemric and wife Edith of Ronda, Jerry Hemric of Ronda; sisters, Peggy Dalton of Ronda, Brenda Pardue and husband Ernest of Ronda; grandchildren, Ashley Hemric, Amber Hemric Holcomb, Philip Hemric, Brandon Hemric, Jessica Hemric, Katherine Brown, Stefan Hemric; great grandchildren, Denver Holcomb, Levi Holcomb, Bentley Brown, Maverick Brown, Kinsley Brown and several loving nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted Monday, April 1, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Steve Fowler officiating. Burial will follow at Little Elkin Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at Elkin Funeral Service.
