Jo Ann Baker

Jo Ann Sidden Baker, age 83 of Thurmond, passed away Monday, December 2, 2024, at her son’s residence in State Road.

Jo Ann was born November 30, 1941, to Walter Connley and Annie Elizabeth Spicer Sidden.

Jo Ann was a member of Roaring Gap Baptist Church.  She loved solving word search puzzles, reading and listening to music, especially Roy Orbison and Elvis.

In addition to her parents Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband George Baker, sisters, Iva Dean Cox Casey and an infant sister Shirley Cox.

Survivors include sons, Tim Baker and wife Alice of Elkin, Jeffrey Baker and wife Judy of Thurmond, Mark Baker and wife Robin of State Road; daughter, Diane Baker Settle and husband David of Thurmond; sister, Mildred Casey of Traphill; grandchildren, Carrie Baker, Stephanie Baker, Nick Baker, Tanner Baker, Dillon Baker, Joe Baker, Courtney Settle, Nathan Baker, Colton Settle; great grandchildren, James Martin, Jessie Baker, Georgia Baker, Jase Baker; Conner Baker, Millie Grace Baker and Caseon Baker.

A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at Union Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Richard Hackler officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 1:00 pm – 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
