John D Harrison

John D. Harrison, age 86, passed away Monday, September 2, 2024 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem.

John was born May 17, 1938 in Surry County to Byrd and Ida Williams Harrison.  He was a faithful member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church where he sang in the choir.  He loved waterskiing, sports and Cruise Ins.

In addition to his parents John was preceded in death by a brother, Auty Harrison and sisters, Ruby Holyfield and Gladys White.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita Shores Harrison; nieces, Imogene Hardy, Ida Mae Hutchins, Patricia Pettry; several loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Chad Whitley and Dr. Roger Hensley officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow at Charity Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Fort Liberty U.S Army funeral honors.
