John Coad Westra

Mr. John Coad Westra, age 88, of State Road, passed away Friday, December 23, 2022 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Westra was born February 6, 1934 in Miami, Fl to Emer Albert Westra and Mildred Coad Westra.

Mr. Westra retired as a special agent from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and was a member of Jonesville First United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the US Army and graduated from the University of Miami.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 1 brother.

Survivors include: his wife of 68 years, Betty S. Westra of the home; sons, John Westra Jr. and his wife Kim of State Road and Tom Westra and his wife Janie of State Road; daughter, Sheree Bright of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Bryan Craven, Bradley Craven, Tom Westra, Jr., Brittany Craven, Coad Westra, Schia Webb, Bobe Westra and Cord Gentry and great grandchildren, Madison, Lily, Dannee, Luelie, Inezleigh, Isele, Esme, Brantley and Kayde.

The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.

The family requests memorials be made to Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
