Julia Mccann

Mrs. Julia Jane Thompson McCann, age 100, of Thurmond passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. McCann was born November 2, 1918 in Mcdowell County, WV to Elihu Patterson and Miranda Viola Cook Thompson.

Mrs. McCann was a faithful member of White Rock United Methodist church where she was a choir member and worked on the organization of the church cemetery.  She retired from Ratledge Florist.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Johnson McCann and eleven brothers and sisters.

Survivors include: son, Clinton McCann and wife Wanda of Thurmond; daughters, Louella Johnson and husband Harold of Roaring River, Lorene Fleming and husband Carl of Thurmond; sister, Hettie Lambert of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Albert McCann, Jamie McCann, Uriah McCann, 10 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; several step great grandchildren; and some very special nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel conducted by, Rev. William Adams, Rev. Robert Waddell, and Rev. John Taylor. Burial will follow in Union Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to White Rock United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 200 Old RR Grade Rd, Thurmond, NC 28683.

Serving as pallbearers are, Albert McCann, Jamie McCann, Uriah McCann, C.J. McCann, Timothy McCann and Tommy McCann. Serving as Honorary pallbearer is Lee Wilmoth.
