Ken Mcdaniel

Mr. Kenneth “Ken” Michael McDaniel, age 80, of Elkin passed away Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Ken was born January 23, 1941 in Rock Hill, SC.

Ken was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Smith McDaniel.

Ken was an active member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in State Road. He was a veteran of the South Carolina National Guard, where he was a member of the basketball team. Ken retired as postmaster from the United States Postal Service in State Road. After his retirement from the postal service, Ken became a dedicated and faithful employee of Elkin Funeral Service starting in October 2002 until his health no longer permitted in early 2021.

Survivors include: his loving wife of 58 years, Kathie S. McDaniel of the home; son, Kevin McDaniel and wife Kathy of Pfafftown; granddaughters, Katie McDaniel, Kylie McDaniel; and sister, Yvonne McDaniel of Rutherfordton.

A celebration of life will be conducted Sunday, December 12, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. John Attaway and Rev. Dylan Cook officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. The service will be live streamed on the Elkin Funeral Service Facebook page.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, PO Box 130, State Road, NC 28676.
